Tips for Keeping Your Semi-Truck Clean All Year

As a truck driver, you want to ensure your truck stays pristine and comfortable. Here are a couple of tips to keep your semi-truck clean all year long.

When you live the life of a truck driver, you spend hours seated, watching miles of land pass you by. It’s not unusual for your vehicle to become dirty over time on the road. Here are tips to keep your semi-truck clean all year.

Knock Out Stains and Spills

Stains and spills aren’t always avoidable during your long travels, whether you’ve accidentally spilled coffee on the floor of your truck or dropped snack crumbs on your gear shift. You’ll want to take the time to remove unwanted stains and spills from your semi-truck.

Use a strong cleaning agent to remove stains as quickly as possible. Addressing them early can save you money on professional cleaning services in the future.

Clean Glass Surfaces

You want absolute clarity on the open road, so one tip for keeping your semi-truck clean is to clean your windows and mirrors. An ammonia-free glass cleaner can remove debris and prevent your vision from obscuring. Use a microfiber cloth or paper towels to wipe away the cleaning product for a streak-free shine.

Clear Out Debris and Trash

After spending hours or even days on the road, you’re bound to collect trash, food wrappers, water bottles, and other single-use items that slowly take up space in your semi-truck. Practice good hygiene and semi-truck care by minimizing trash accumulation.

Use a trash bag or a portable garbage in your vehicle to collect used food wrappers, coffee cups, napkins, and other waste so they don’t end up on the floor or under seats. You can use a vacuum to extract dirt, crumbs, grime, and other debris from your travels. These measures will prevent mold growth, so you won’t have to worry about breathing in spores.

Wash Your Mats and Seats

Your seats and mats can accumulate bacteria from many different things, especially when sitting in the cabin all day. It’s essential to clean your mats and seats regularly so your truck doesn’t become laden with bacteria.

Upholstered seats require a special cleaner and a soft bristle brush to remove trapped gunk and debris from the fibers. When cleaning leather truck seats, apply a leather cleaner, rinse off the product, and dry with a microfiber cloth. You can wash your truck mats with hot soapy water and a scrub brush to remove matted-down gunk; then, hang them to let excess moisture drip off.

A clean semi-truck will last longer and keep you healthy on long driving hauls. In addition, proper vehicle care can save you from headache-inducing problems and encourage you to maintain a healthy routine.
