Volvo Car USA Reports Sales of 10,723 Cars in May

Volvo Car USA reports sales of 10,723 cars in May, up 14.4 per cent compared to last year. The sale of Recharge models – those with a plug-in hybrid or fully electric powertrain – accounted for 28.3 per cent of overall sales.

The Volvo XC60 was the top-selling model in the U.S. during the month, with 3,717 cars, followed by the XC90, with total sales of 3,365 cars, and the XC40 at 2,115 cars. Sales of fully electric vehicles grew 66 per cent over the same period last year, representing 12.5 per cent of all sales in the country.

Canada sales reached 1,037 cars in May, up 5.1 per cent over the same month last year, with Recharge models taking a 30.9 per cent share. The U.S. and Canada commercial region sold 11,760 cars, up 10.5 per cent compared with the same month last year.

“Demand for our cars continues to remain strong, especially for our Recharge plug-in and fully electric models,” said President of Volvo Car USA and Canada, Michael Cottone.
